The VVFA GU13 95 Select played at the U14 age level in this years Mayors Cup International Showcase. They faced teams from Utah, New Mexico and Nevada. The girls were exposed to some very physical play, as the older teams tried to intimidate VVFA. Our girls didn't back down, and were able to play the more skillful soccer. Before the final against Rio Rancho Desert Emeralds (NM), we were visited by Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and City Councilman Gary Reese (Grandfather of VVFA player Alyssa Gomez). Mayor Goodman gave a pre-game talk urging the girls to win for Las Vegas as we were the last hope for a local Champion. The girls went out and played an outstanding final, winning 2-0.
